Highway Don't Care

I first heard this song last week on the radio and immediately recognized Tim McGraw and Taylor Swifts voice! I've been listening to this song ever since. What makes this song even better is the message. I watched the music video for the first time today and I love how the video makes a bold statement. It covers the issue of texting while driving. I am a HUGE advocate of no texting while driving so when I saw this it made me love the song even more. (I also love that Keith Urban is on the guitar too!) I highly encourage you to watch this video and think twice before you text and drive. It really is a very dangerous thing to do, and it's true: The Highway don't care.

Highway Don't Care- Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban

Bet your window's rolled down and your hair's pulled back
And I bet you got no idea you're going way too fast
You're trying not to think about what went wrong
Trying not to stop 'til you get where you goin'
You're trying to stay awake so I bet you turn on the radio
And the song goes

I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby
I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby, baby

The highway won't hold you tonight
The highway don't know you're alive
The highway don't care if you're all alone
But I do, I do.
The highway won't dry your tears
The highway don't need you here
The highway don't care if you're coming home
But I do, I do.

I bet you got a dead cell phone in your shotgun seat
Yeah, I bet you're bending God's ear talking 'bout me.
You're trying not to let the first tear fall out
Trying not to think about turning around
You're trying not to get lost in the sound but that song is always on
So you sing along

I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby
I can't live without I can't live without you baby, oh baby

The highway won't hold you tonight
The highway don't know you're alive
The highway don't care if you're all alone
But I do, I do.
The highway won't dry your tears
The highway don't need you here
The highway don't care if you're coming home
But I do, I do.

I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby
I can't live without I can't live without you, baby, oh baby

The highway don't care
The highway don't care
The highway don't care
But I do, I do.

I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby
I can't live without I can't live without you, baby, oh baby
(The highway don't care
The highway don't care
The highway don't care
But I do, I do)

I can't live without you, I can't live without you, baby

New York to California

I heard this song today on a music channel on my TV. I've been a fan of Mat Kearney since the first time I heard his song "Girl America" and as of today I really like the song "New York to California"..it's so sweet and it's played on the piano :) I was reading about the meaning of the song and apparently in an interview he said that "New York to California" is a very literal song, one that he just wrote in the moment. The song is very easy to understand...you just listen to the story in the lyrics.

New York to California- Mat Kearney

Under the TV lights, you fell asleep again
Don't know, I'm writing this song about you
There's a picture of a Hollywood sign, reflecting off your skin I
Don't want to live another day without you
You woke up and said baby I, had one of those dreams again
The rain came down and I lost you, In the wind
You said something about don't leave, before you fell back asleep
Before I could sing my song back to you

But you could find your self lost out in this world
And I found a way to get back to your side
No mountains to high, no stone is too small
I'll build a bridge through the fire, for you I would crawl
From New York to California

I could hear you softly breathing, oh what you do to me
But baby I could climb down into your dreams
I Build a ladder down through the clouds
Where the storms Is raging now I
Don't want to sing another song without you

If you find your self lost out in this world
Then I'll find a way to get back to your side
No mountains to high, no stone is too small
I'll build a bridge through the fire, for you I would crawl
From New York to California

Singing, la la la la la la
Oh, It's not too far, la la la la la la
Oh, to where you are, la la la la la la
Oh, It's not too far,

Cause you, could find your self lost out in this world
And I, Could find a way to get back to your side

If you find your self lost out in this world
Then I'll find a way to get back to your side
No mountains to high, no stone is too small
I'll build a bridge through the fire, for you I would crawl
From New York to California, To California, To California

You set me free

So, I have a favorite on American Idol this season...her name is Angela Miller. I'm pretty sure she blew just about everyone away including the judges with her performance a couple of weeks ago. She wrote a song called "You set me free" which is about being set free from baggage and the weight that you carry from hard times. I think she is definitely going to go far this season, if not win Idol 2013. Love this song, and wish I could purchase the full track! Who knows, if she wins, maybe they will let her first single be her original song, You set me free!

You set me free-Angela Miller

You find me here alone
I hear a voice that’s so unknown
It strikes courage up my backbone
Strengthen my heart
A life set apart
I see that’s what you are
You come, you come with open arms
And you say “I love you for who you are”
When I was haunted and alone
With this baggage on my back dragging me down
You set me free
You set me free
You set me free

When I was your man

http://youtu.be/-8sYPCAf_1o

As I was about to get out of my car yesterday to walk into Publix I heard this song I had never heard come on the radio. First of all, I'm a sucker for anything piano, and I love hearing new, fresh, songs.... so naturally I stuck it out in my car for about 2 and half more minutes. I might be a little behind the ball on this one, but I'm loving "When I was your man" by Bruno Mars. I love the heartache and regret in the song and the piano music....oh there's just something so beautiful about the sound of the black and white keys... (did I mention I'm a sucker for depressing-heartbrake songs too?) I've never gone through a break up but I've experienced heartache and I love hearing the confessions of what he would have done to have her back in his life.

When I was your man by Bruno Mars

Same bed but it feels just a little bit bigger now
Our song on the radio but it don't sound the same
When our friends talk about you, all it does is just tear me down
'Cause my heart breaks a little when I hear your name

It all just sounds like ooh, ooh ooh hoo hoo
Mm, too young, too dumb to realize
That I should have bought you flowers
And held your hand
Should have gave you all my hours
When I had the chance
Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance

Now my baby's dancing
But she's dancing with another man

My pride, my ego, my needs, and my selfish ways
Caused a good strong woman like you to walk out my life
Now I never, never get to clean up the mess I made, oh
And it haunts me every time I close my eyes

It all just sounds like ooh, ooh ooh hoo hoo
Mm, too young, too dumb to realize
That I should have bought you flowers
And held your hand
Should have gave you all my hours
When I had the chance
Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance

Now my baby's dancing
But she's dancing with another man

Although it hurts
I'll be the first to say that I was wrong
Oh, I know I'm probably much too late
To try and apologize for my mistakes
But I just want you to know

I hope he buys you flowers
I hope he holds your hand
Give you all his hours
When he has the chance
Take you to every party
'Cause I remember how much you loved to dance
Do all the things I should have done
When I was your man
Do all the things I should have done
When I was your man

lyrics: taylor swift, all too well.

One thing I love about Taylor Swift's music is that her lyrics are based on real relationships. There are SO many lyrics I love that she has written. I found this incredible drawing that is based off of some of the lyrics from the song "All Too Well". These lyrics in particular remind me of my "dating days" with John is Carbondale and always bring back  sweet memories that make me smile inside.

"Cause there we are again, in the middle of the night
We're dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all to well"

All Too Well by Taylor Swift

I walked through the door with you, the air was cold
But something about it felt like home somehow
And I left my scarf there at your sister's house
And you still got it in your drawer, even now

Oh, your sweet disposition and my wide eyed gaze
We're singing in the car getting lost upstate
Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place
And I can picture it after all these days

And I know it's long gone
And that magic's not here no more
And I might be okay
But I'm not fine at all

'Cause there we are again, on that little town street
You almost ran the red 'cause you were looking over me
Wind in my hair, I was there, I remember it all too well

Photo album on the counter, your cheeks were turning red
You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin size bed
Your mother's telling stories about you on the tee ball team
You tell me about your past, thinking your future was me

And I know it's long gone
And there's nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough
To forget why I needed to

'Cause there we are again, in the middle of the night
We're dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all to well

And maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well

And you call me up again just to break me like a promise
So casually cruel in the name of being honest
I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
'Cause I remember it all, all, all to well

Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it
I'd like to be my old self again, but I'm still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone

But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
'Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
You can't get rid of it 'cause you remember it all to well, yeah

'Cause there we are again, when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all to well

Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it all
Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all to well
